JEE Advanced 2026 Admission – IIT Admission Process, Eligibility, Dates

JEE Advanced 2026 is the second stage of the IIT entrance examination conducted for admission to Bachelor’s programs (B.Tech, B.S., Integrated courses) in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The exam is conducted by IIT Roorkee in 2026, and only candidates who qualify JEE Main 2026 can apply for it.

Candidates who secure a valid rank in JEE Advanced will participate in JoSAA counselling to get admission to IITs across India.

JEE Advanced 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions to appear in the exam.

JEE Main Qualification

  • Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 candidates in JEE Main 2026 (B.E./B.Tech paper).

Age Limit

  • General / OBC: Born on or after 1 October 2001
  • SC / ST / PwD: 5-year relaxation (born on or after 1 October 1996)

Number of Attempts

  • A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced only 2 times in two consecutive years.

Class 12 Qualification

  • Must have appeared in Class 12 for the first time in 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Previous IIT Admission

  • Candidates who were already admitted to an IIT earlier are not eligible for JEE Advanced.

Minimum Marks Required in Class 12 for IIT Admission

To get admission into IIT after qualifying JEE Advanced:

  • General / OBC / EWS: Minimum 75% marks in Class 12
  • SC / ST / PwD: Minimum 65% marks

OR

  • Candidate must be in the top 20 percentile of their respective board.
